With over 25 years’ experience installing, servicing and maintaining electrical installations throughout the UK, Mike Seary was ideally placed to become Solid State’s first dedicated Service & Maintenance Manager at the turn of the Millennium. Since his appointment, the division has gone from strength to strength and currently manages over 300 national, regional and single site contracts for organisations as diverse as Vue Cinemas (servicing 55 fire and voice alarm systems) and Cumberland Infirmary (servicing 22 networked fire alarm systems). But, as Mike is keen to point out, it’s not all down to him: “I work with a fantastic, dedicated team who are just as committed to doing a good job as I am. Our system means that you can speak directly with a knowledgeable and experienced member of our service team and this often leads to us resolving problems over the phone without the need for an emergency site visit. Adds Mike: “We firmly believe we deliver the industry’s best value maintenance packages, addressing the requirements, budget and - of course - the appropriate regulations for any site. We receive a large number of unsolicited testimonials and our maintenance contract renewal rate stands at over 95% per annum.” Mike also takes great pride in the intelligent database system he helped introduce four years ago. “The system gives our maintenance engineers remote 24-7 access to the technical details of all our clients’ systems,“ he explained. “It details all reactive and planned maintenance visits, false alarm data and our full range of life safety system components.
